I was out in the yard planting two little maple trees and the “wife” called from the house, “Phone call, come in the house, it’s Joel Tille from Iowa.” Now, normally, when I am a hundred yards from the house, covered in dirt and sweat and planting trees, and the root ball is laying on the ground rapidly drying out, I would just say, “take a message.”
But, “wife” has learned a few things in 15 years of marriage, namely, because she told me who was calling, I dropped the shovel and headed to the house.
Joel and his wife are planning to drive over 7 hours down from Iowa to meet with Karson, Kev, me, and “wife”. This is turning into a cool deal! I don’t know if Joel’s wife is a lumberjock yet, but maybe we can get her join up.
Just think, without Martin, none of us would know each other, or be getting together. Thanks Martin,
Back to prep work, who let this place “go” so long? Oh yea, it was me.
P.S. Oh, yea, I forgot to tell you. The reason I was in a rush to plant the little maple trees is that they have been sitting in a bucket outside the shop all summer, and I couldn’t bear to have a few lumberjocks, winners and runner’s up, no less, come and see that travesty. My friend in Wichita that built the Pine Adirondack chairs gave the little maples to me in June, and I finally got them in the ground this morning. I will probably be hauling water to them for at least 6-8 weeks until the cool Fall and moist weather hits, but someday I will be glad I planted them.
P.S.S. If Al Gore says that everything that has ever happened bad is blamed on Global Warming (ice storms and snow and heat waves and everything in between) because there is too much Carbon Dioxide in the air…......why isn’t he just promoting the planting of more trees? Inquring minds want to know. A few years ago he was all about reducing the world’s population, and now he wants to save us all. What is up with this guy? At least he invented the internet for us all to use and enjoy. Ok, now I’ve gone and done it, exposed politics in a woodworking forum.
