Veritas Router Plane

Veritas Router Plane

I bought this a while ago but have been too busy to sit down and use it. For my last project I had to make a couple of grooves for a shelf and decided that this was a good time to give this a try. To start, I marked out where I wanted the groove to be on a piece of scrap, cut the marks a little deeper with a bench chisel to establish the groove and reduce the possible tear out before it happened. Using the adjustment, I took very little off on each pass. This thing worked like a dream. ...

Honing Guide

Honing Guide

Bought this and was very surprised. My other honing guide clamps on the sides and edges for the larger blades and has a triangle to hold the smaller chisels and blades. This honing guide clamps on the flat side of the blade and holds it. The guide I give 5 stars. The guide comes with a piece of stick on rubber which I put on the anvil of the guide so that the blade does not move around. Diamond sharpening Kit

Diamond sharpening Kit

This kit came with 4 “stones” – actually 4 steel plates. The extra course is a little smoother than road surface. When I used this to flatten my 8000 grit water stone, I found that my flattening stone has been worn to a point that is no longer flat. When you get these, sharpen a piece of steel or something hard where you are not looking for that pristine mirror finish. I made a blade for a radius plane – thank Mads for this, the blade is now done – and went...

Traditional Woodworker chisels

Traditional Woodworker chisels

I purchased 6 chisels of this set. I was looking for a set of chisels that were in inches and not metric conversion like most of the chisels out there. My current set of Marples/Irwin/blue handled chisels have been good to me but are not real hard and keeping them sharp has been an issue. So, I bought the 1/8, 3/16, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, and 5/8” chisels since these were the sizes that I will use the most. The way they are labeled is also nice and readable. These chisels, like all the r...

Canister Filters

Canister Filters

I have a generic 2HP dust collector that had a bag filter. This system, when started up, would give off a pretty good puff of dust in the air, kind of defeating what it was suppored to do. I recently bought a cannister filter and new bottom bag for this from Penn State. The overall permformance is much better and the dust in the shop much less. They give the filter a liftime warranty. They have differnt size filters to fit different rigs and for the price, wasn’t too bad when you in...
