no previous part Part 1 of delta 8 inch jointer rebuild series Part 2: "Start stripping" the paint »

I was thinking about buying a new jointer from grizzly. I even traveled to the showroom in Muncy, PA to look at them. But I ended up getting this from a school auction.

I plan on stripping the old paint and painting it a shade of blue.

That looks like a really good choice. I doubt much can go wrong with these jointers. You might have to shim the tables and replace or sharpen blades, but providing the motor and belts are ok it looks like a great machine. Congratulations and I hope you get many years of us out of it.

I overpaid a little for it now that I think about. It came with a 3 phase motor so I need to replace that and get a new switch and cord. In the end I hope to keep it under 750.00. I also need to get another set of blades at some point also.
Anyone have 1 hp 220v motor they want to get rid of? :)
