long time dabbler, fairly new to actual woodworking. i have built sheds, fences, most things that incorporate 2x4s. projects where an 1/8 of an inch was good enough. i got seduced into thinking I could build a mission style quilt rack for my wife. the ones i found in stores were flimzy. i bought a plan and got started after much procrastination. the quilt rack went together pretty well, but i wanted to commit suicide about midway through the finishing process. i used a gel stain and let it set up. it was a pain to apply to all those littles nooks and crannies. now i'm on a mission to build and equip a garage workshop (on a budget). i want to start a blog to show the progress. i love to look at other woodworkers workshops, their ingenuity and creativity is inspiring. if you know of a website of a fellow woodworker showing their shop, please let me know.

While I’m at it, I wanted to post a few pics of the robot my son helped build and the practice field yours truely built. My 17 year old high school brainiac son participated in a robot competition last weekend. He was responsible for the e...
Yesterday I had the opportunity to purchase this DeWalt RAS, model MBF-223, serial# 212800. From the serial registry on the OWWM mothership, the saw was born in January 1957. The machine is considered a bit underpowered with the original 3/4hp mo...
Last night I started this blog. You can see Part 1 here: http://lumberjocks.com/davidroberts/blog/14843 I started with the footboard and almost screwed it up. I thought dousing it with stripper could melt the glue. I had been told that pr...
The title is a little misleading. The bed is actually refinished. This was a project 2 years in the making. A neighbor grew tired of her grandmothers bed set sitting on her back porch and offered it to me two summers ago. Her idea was I would ...
