Well, as everyone knows, I have the new Work Sharp 3000 sharpening system in place. I have been touching up my new chisels, my old chisels, my carving chisels, and my turning chisels. Whenever I hear people mention the “scary sharp” method, they describe how they run a chisel across an area where there is hair, and if the hair comes off, the chisel is “scary sharp.” I have been doing that over and over again and all the chisels seem to be sharp enough, but I still feel like I am missing something. Maybe somebody can help me?

Thanks everyone!
David

Usually when people have problems with this method they are skipping over grits instead of going in the correct sequence and or not go to a high enough grit 1000-1200. The other problem is that of not having good chisels.

Good one David. All I can see that you are missing is the eyebrows and stubble on the chin.

Thanks for the comments folks and for suggestions on how to help a woodworker out. I guess the next question would be whether I should use an epoxy or CA glue to get this back on? ;)

Thanks Rick! Now it all makes sense. I was wondering why more woodworkers weren’t bald :)

It was! I do think you got those chisels sharp enough to shave with, but a lawnmower blade to shave your head?

it’s a good look. I’ll be joining you in about a year myself.
