2127 posts in 1279 days Location: Owosso, Michigan I am a "jack of all trades" individual who fell into computer work for the last decade and I spend numerous hours in front of a screen. A couple of years ago, I decided I need a more physical, "hands on" hobby to help balance my time in the cyber world. Sometimes, you can spend all day working on an issue and not feel like you accomplished a darn thing. I wanted something in which I could look at the end product and feel the satisfaction that comes from making something. My first attempt at woodworking involved making some wooden toys for my sons. My oldest (Samuel) is 13 right now and my youngest (Gabriel) is 10. At the time, my tools were as limited as my know-how. I had a 12 inch miter saw, a jigsaw, and a hand drill. Somehow, I miraculously survived the flying bits of wood that were a result of some stupid cut I would try, and the woodworking bug took hold. Now my basement shop has been going through small modifications and I have a half way decent collection of professional and cheap tools alike. Hopefully, the quality of the end product will improve with time and experience. -- There is little that is simple when it comes to making a simple box. Latest Activity | view all »

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I have been playing around down the basement for a couple of years and building up my tool collection, now I am ready to get to work ;) I have peeked in on Lumber Jocks for awhile and always found the forums interesting and insightful. I am happy to be here.
