What a great site! I had no idea anything like this was on the web. I've been a contractor and a "woodworker" for many years. This spring I had some medical challenges and needed surgury. While recovering I have found that wood working websites are almost as much fun as doing it yourself. As I continue to recover, I spend a couple of hours everyday in the wood shop behind my home. I have a great shop with nearly 2000 sq ft. My father, also a contractor, passed away this last summer and I inherited all his tools also. How many portable drills, tablesaws, chopsaws, and drill bits are enough? Norm was wrong, you can have too many clamps, at least too many of the wrong kind.
I like my shop, the funny thing is my table saw and Jointer are almost as old as I am but even at sixty years old a powermatic cabinet saw is capable of making any thing wood. Some of my tools are newer as I needed them in my business but new or old a tool is only as good as the person who uses it. I won't be making many more large, heavy and awkward projects but I am enjoying honing my skills on some of the smaller technical projects.
I still divide my time with other interests. I have spent 32 years as a scouting volunteer, I work with my sister on our Family Genealogy, and I work in my Church. Life is busy, but I sure am having fun!
