g0490 pulley question - 3 replies

Grizz sent me a new motor pulley since the one that my jointer arrived with was not installed properly. I removed the 2 set screws and rectangular key, but do not know how to remove the pulley from the shaft. Their “help” line is closed so I was wondering if anyone has done this procedure. I would really appreciate some info ...

Design Review - 6 replies

Hey gang, I woke up last night and started thinking about an upcoming project – couldn’t sleep so I thought I would ask for some design input. I am getting ready to start a stool for use at my bench. This design fits in with my overall mid century aesthetic and has a Danish cord seat woven on the top. I have drawn it with 5/4 ma...

Grizzly; a break up letter - 29 replies

Dear Grizzly, Welcome to dumpsville. Population: you. We had great times when I bought my table saw. I had incredible luck, looking back at it now. A machine that worked. Since then, I have had a G0452 jointer which was to terrible I wouldn’t even sell it on Craigslist. Like a complete Rube I was foolish enough to replace it with ...

Making a marking knife questions - 2 replies

Hey gang;Couple questions on making a marking knife. I have been looking at some posted here and like the two brass rods through the blade and body. Questions are related to that aspect: 1: where do you get the rods?2: how do you trim them up flush or slightly counter sunk? I did a search and see tons of great info on design, glue ups an...

8" jointer use question - 5 replies

Hey guys, I’m upgrading to an 8” jointer and have a methodology question. Actually mabe it’s just a general glue up question. I do a lot of edge to edge glue ups to make large panels for furniture. Given that wider boards tend to warp / cup and move more, do those of you with an 8” jointer find that you will use a full...

Jointer setup woes and question. - 6 replies

I am setting up my Grizzly G0452 jointer and am having a hard time getting the tables set or coplanar. I have a starrett 50” straight edge and a couple sets of feeler gauges. My out feed table seems good to go so I am working from there. The cutter end of the infeed table is dead even with the out feed. The other end of the infeed droops ...

Anti rust posting awhile back - 2 replies

I remember someone posting no too long ago that they built a cover for a jointer(?) and lined the inside with a product that off gasses an anti corrosion vapor. Can anyone remember this or point me in the right direction if I am mis-remembering? Thanks!

I won I won - tool gloat - 13 replies

I finally went and joined the San Diego Fine Woodworkers Association this week. I bought a few raffle tickets before the meeting and ended up winning a prize – Lie Nielsen low angle block plane. Not only had I recently drooled over this but it’s also my first plane. Now I just need to learn how to set it up and use it properly!

My buddy is in New England for a family function and sent me some pics of tools his family has kept for a time. I understand his early family had Boston wood working ties. Book recommendation? Case goods. - 2 replies

I am looking for a good book on constructing case goods such as dressers and credenzas. I build mid century furniture for my house and want to move up to bigger projects. I want to make sure I have the concepts right in terms of backs and getting interior pieces assembled correctly (considering seasonal movement). I have done a fair bit o...

Triton routers: 2hp or 3hp - 21 replies

Hi gang All of the reviews on the Triton routers have aged a bit so I wanted to solicit input on the MOF001 2.25hp and TRA001 3.25 routers. I will be mounting in a table so the above table adjustments are appealing. If you have either or both and any info to share that could help me decide between the two models I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Turners in San Diego? - 1 reply

Hey Gang, I wanted to know if there are any experienced turners in the San Diego area that would take a commission to make some dowel and tapered legs out of walnut. I make mid century furniture for my home (not for sale) and I am always looking to shop local. In the past I have used www.tablelegs.com. I was unhappy with them for two rea...

Evapo rust - how I ruined my Tablesaw. - 13 replies

Having seen the great reviews on here for Evapo Rust I thought I’d give it a try. First time I followed the manufacturers instructions and had a complete green and black mess. Second try I used old tee shirt material and covered it, checking in on the progress. Much like the first try my saw is almost completely black. Im so mad I could ...

220v electrical question - 17 replies

We bought our house a year ago amd I’m getting the itch to run 220 to the shop. The previous owners had a hot tub out back with a 220 line and sub panel for it. In my main box I’ve got what I think is a double 50 amp single pole breaker. I’ve heard that these are often run with double hots. My question is: Can I pull the li...

Riving Knife Alignment; Grizzly G0715P Question - 13 replies

Hi all, While cutting the plywood today for my bathroom vanity I encountered a problem with my riving knife. I have a Grizzly G0715P with a Forrest WW2 thin kerf blade.
