I am pretty much a self taught wood carver. I started out learning to carve Santas from one of Tom Wolfe's books. From there, things just progressed as I had time to carve. In the past few years, I have taken to courses from Chris Pye which have been excellent. Now as a retired teacher and part time massage therapist, I have a little more time to carve, but there never is enough. I am always struggling to "carve out" a little more time to carve! I have sold in a couple local craft galleries, but now am just working out of Etsy. There is a great team of woodcarvers at etsy, Woodcarvers of Etsy, who support each other and are very helpful.
Wood is a wonderful medium. I have always been attracted to it even as a young child. It is limited only by the imagination!
