At the end of Sept/beginning of Oct 2013 I will be teaching a one-week class at the John C. Campbell Folk School on the subject of Hewing and carving bowls and spoons! If you haven’t yet heard of the Folk School, it is the oldest school of craft in the country, having been founded in the 1930s. Located in Brasstown, NC, the campus is beautiful, with about 20 classes going on at any time ranging from woodworking, woodcarving, blacksmithing, pottery, metalworking, weaving, music, traditional folk dance, cooking, gardening, and many other subjects. The food is also incredible!!
For anyone interested in this school, their website address is folkschool.org.
BTW- the weekend immediately following my course will be their annual Fall Festival, which features around a couple of hundred of craftspeople and artists, educational demonstrations, music and dance performances, and the best food I’ve ever found at any type of festival!
