1st cabinet project

This was my first cabinet building experience. Just before getting married, we bought this little house that was mid renovation. Everything from the drywall out had been updated. I purchased the right to lay floors, build a kitchen, texture walls, finish electrical and all finish plumbing (except the toilet.) in the process, I learned to tear down walls, build proper headers, refinish hard-wood floors, repair sub-floors, tile, grout, etc. I don’t think I’ll buy another 1940 house with no other place to live again. what should have taken a few months of my evenings and weekends turned into almost 3 years.
As for the kitchen featured here, I did have some help but most of the work is mine. The cabinet boxes are Ash veneer MDF, the face frame drawer fronts and doors are Solid ash. I had the doors done in a local door shop (my wife really wanted her kitchen done.) The drawer boxes are Baltic Birch ply. Counter top is 12” granite floor tile with Ash bull-nose border, and back splash is slate.
Finish was wiped stain, and 3 coats of aquaplastic semigloss
