Part 1: Sketchup Renderings
So I’m making a small side table from some scrap I had lying around. Some zebrawood left over from the box and some walnut from the console table I started building before these renderings but figured the blog would flow better if I started with these. So this is the plan I have the top made, and the legs. Part 2: Wobble/Flex
The table is coming together nicely, glued the base together last night, and started finishing the top. The only issue I’m having is that it’s a bit on the delicate side; the thin rails that have the epoxied metal dowels in them allow the legs to flex when pushed. Wondering if I can make it a bit more solid by gluing a piece to the inside of the thin rails, between the two long stretchers. Part 3: Almost there
Here are the pics of the work in progress, amost there :) Looks pretty much how I imagined it would! Top is a bit dusty here Another view The stretchers are attached using Miller Dowels, I’m a big fan of them and use them all the time. I’m going to add the pieces to strengthen those rails tomorrow.
