Carving has always been a mystery to me. I hear the successful carvers saying that they visualize the carving in the wood and then just release it - I look at a piece of wood and see a piece of wood - wish I had the talent.
I'm with you Bill, I wish I could get my hands to do what I imagine in my mind. Unfortunately, they're too much like teenagers and do what they're going to do. Gotta admire those that can take a piece of wood and bring something out of it.
Before I started carving, I used to say, I wish I could do that, so I tried , & found out it wasn't as difficult as I thought.
I found out that it's much easier with chisels, than a knife.
I always tell people, TRY IT YOU MIGHT LIKE IT!
