Woodworker since I was about 14, I interspersed a career in software development and management with a woodworking hobby and latent desire to be a cabinetmaker. After graduation from University, the first thing I did was enroll in a cabinetmaking certificate program which I received from Algonquin College in Ottawa, Ontario. At one point I even tried quitting my corporate job to go work in a cabinetmaking shop but I might have been considered 'over qualified'. In between a difficult period in the industry in 2001, I got a part-time job with Home Depot in the lumber department which I thoroughly enjoyed but eventually went back to computers to pay the bills.
I now own a few forest properties here and there, so I have an abundance of materials to work with, if only I had the heart to cut a nice tree down - so I rely on forest roadkill mainly.
