How would you build this? - 12 replies
Hey Guys. I saw this table, and would love to build something similar. I’m trying to wrack my brain about how to make these curved legs. I can come up with a bunch of really complicated ways of making them, but am not seeing the “easiest way out”.... How would you make it???

Video/audio advertisement... - 6 replies
I was reading through someone’s blog today and got interrupted by an extremely annoying advertisement (on the right hand side). It was a video (with audio) advertisement. There was no way to shut it off, which forced me to leave the page and stop reading the blog…. Could I have turned off my volume? Of course, but I shouldn̵...

Check out the store here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/KremerPrintandDesign?ref=si_shop I told her to make a woodworking one, and I would share it with all my woodwo...

Small Electrical Project (question) - 22 replies
I am making a DIY Soft Box (photography lighting). I need help with some wiring. I have BASIC knowledge of how to wire up a light. Here are the pics of the sockets I have… I have 4 of these sockets that I want to wire together into one extension cord. Now before the safety police start yapping – yes, I checked with...

Fixing a screw up - question - 21 replies
I drilled 3 holes for a hinge only to realize when I was installing the hinge that my holes were like 1/16-1/8” off from where they were supposed to be. I can’t simply just drill new holes because I’m afraid they’ll get sucked into the previous mistake-holes. And if they don’t, the two holes will be so close togethe...

Shops tab, the afterthought of Lumberjocks - 32 replies
A while ago (like 2 years ago) I started a forum topic asking if the Shop tab section was going to get updated to flow better and be more user friendly. I’m pretty sure I got feedback from the admin saying that it was in the works. That was 2 years ago. What happened???? Every tab at the top takes you to a page that is coherent and fits ...

Another Harbor Freight Gem (quick gear clamp) - 18 replies
I’m pretty sure I’ve seen someone post about these before, so hopefully this post isnt completely redundant. I just bought these clamps at Harbor Freight. They were on sale for $12.99. They are awesome! The clamping force is very strong, and it seems like all the important components are metal (not plastic like their other crappy...

tap and die set - 13 replies
Anyone ever use a tap and die (the ones made for metal) on wood? I’ve seen the Wood Whisperer use a tap before in wood, which allowed a bolt to be securely held to the wood. You can see him do this here What about using the die to cut the threads on a dowel??

How to clean an HVLP gun - 24 replies
I just got an HVLP gun (woodcraft). I want to try using it for the first time. I plan on spraying some wax free shellac. It says on the can to clean shellac up with Denatured alcohol. So after i’m done spraying…what is the process of cleaning the gun?? How long can I keep the shellac in the gun before cleaning it out?? Than...

Riving Knife - 30 replies
I dont know why I havent questioned this before – maybe its because its not my saw (I use my bro-in-law’s wood shop), but I always wondered if I could add a riving knife to his Jet saw. It should have been obvious to me, especially since there is an opening in the plate for a riving knife, but it didnt click until I actually saw the...

Jointer question....almost there!! - 20 replies
So some of you have been following my other forum topics involving my jointer. (click link to see my jointer) I had a lot of trouble getting the bolts out (rusted) to replace the knives. Finally had to cut them off with my Dremel. Couldnt find any bolts that were only 1/4” long. So got 3/8” (grade 8) bolts and cut them down (usin...

HVLP sprayers - need some knowledge - 15 replies
For Christmas, my wife bought me the WoodRiver Pro spray Gun (see it here) There was a poor excuse for an instructional manual that came with it. It literally didnt tell me anything. I’m hoping to get some LJ help…. What can you spray with this thing?? Paint (oil/water based)? finishes? stains? which ones? Do I need to ...

Jointer knife question...(Updated) - 33 replies
I just bought new knives for my jointer, and realized they are not a match to the old ones. The new knives are taller than the knives that come with it. My question is, how far can the knives stick out above the slot in the drum? I already have my old knives out – they are nicked up and need sharpened. I need to use my jointer today. O...

running finish through a planer - 27 replies
I just salvaged an old baby crib someone was throwing away. Made of all solid wood. I took it apart and cut (to length) all that could be saved. The wood has an old finish on it (starting to flake off) – Can this be run through the planer to get all the finish off, or get down to the bare wood? or will this ruin my blades?
