Hey everyone – I just got GoogleSketchup 8 and was just fooling around. Not planning on building this, even though I’d LOVE to have it – i’m just not set up for anything like this, nor will I be in the near future. Just posting it to show it off, and give some people some ideas maybe. If you want the file, just PM me! Thanks

The sink is made of a stone/concrete with a modern steel faucet. And the vanity part is just a darker wood (can’t remember what specific texture I used) Both the sink design and vanity are my own design. Nothing fancy – simple and modern. Thats my style! Enjoy. Any comments, critiques welcome!

I like it, and could totally see it in a renovated spa-like master. If it were mine, I’d probably replace the sink with more of a regular shaped vessel (though I like the space around the sink to put stuff!), but that’s just me. BTW, how do you like v8 compared to 7?

v8 is awesome! definitely an improvement from 7. Its easier to move stuff within the virtual space – it seems like it locks on to the axises better/easier! There are also a couple new functions with the different tools. I definitely like it.

As for the sink. I actually started just messing around with different shapes in v8 and came up with that outside shape, and I thought, “hey, that’d make a cool looking sink,” so thats what it became. The vanity was an after thought. I completely agree with you – if i had that vanity, i’d probably want a different/simpler sink. I just didnt want to show the sink without a vanity :)

Looks good! I like your design. Now if I can just learn to use SketchUp like you have….....

I tried Sketch up a couple of times I tried to make some oval fan inlay designs to print off but I couldn’t make it work for me, guess I’m too old or my brain is wired up wrong. Anyway I take my hat off to you nice job. By the way if you feel like experimenting on some oval fan designs 3” x 2” I’d be well impressed

Model with a single sink: you either need the sink to overhang forward a little, or make space for ones toes under the cabinet. Note how all kitchen, bathroom, and work counters have small overhang that allow you to stand right up close.

Viktor – I didnt even think of that! That makes sense. I kind of like it with two sinks anyways. Seems like a really big vanity for only one sink! Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll keep that in mind for any others I design!
