After seeing lots of people making they’re own drum sanders I deiced to make one. I did lots of research and this is what I came up with. My sander will fit on the work bench when needed and stored when not in use. I have very limited area to work. The frame is from 1” by 3 1/2” ash. The drum is made from 3/4” MDF cut and glued. The shaft is 3/4” stock I had left over from another project. Started out with the frame being around 24” by 24”, with bearings and the lock nuts the finished drum length came out to 17.5”, drum dia. is around 5”.
I will post more pictures as I progress with the project.
Please let me know what you think so far.

A truly worthwhile tool to make. I don’t know how I managed before I made mine.
I look forward to further postings, cw.

Looks good so far. Are you going by a plan or making your own?
