I dropped a hammer on my foot when I was 18 months, and at two I was stealing all my dads tools and hinding them! I have been around woodworking/carpentry my whole life. I grew up watching Roy and Norm and my dad. In high school and college I worked as a trim carpenter...working on homes that ranged from 1800 sf to 14000 sf. It was my work as a trim carpenter that really honed my skills. Learning how to put crown, base, chair, doors, and windows in houses that were not anywhere close to being square forced me to understand measuring, laying out, and cutting wood. Plus the old guys showed me how to push my tools to their limits and go home with all ten, although I would not recommend taking off nail gun saftey devises especially framing guns. (Nails are like nagging women when pulled out of flesh , though small and easily bent they can ruin your day). I have recently left the finish carpentry work and I am working as a research engineer. But my first and true love, besides God, Fiancee, and family, is wood. As much as I might want to take a sledge hammer to my work or better yet burn it, I just never can so I keep building in hope that I might like something that I build. Also gasoline and wood scraps are bad combo unless cooking hotdogs or if you want to create a fire bomb, diesel is much more forgiving.
