« Part 4: Day Four and Five Part 5 of Lie-Nielsen Shoulder/Rabbet Plane Kit series no next part

Well I honed the blade but did not put a secondary bevel on it yet. I am very pleased with its performance. With hardly any pressure I started this Rabbet on some hard wood scrap without scribing it first. The blade aligns perfect to the edge to follow the cutting edge making the cut a nice 90 degrees. I believe this plane is going to come in handy for cleaning up cuts.

Thanks
Jerry

Thanks for sharing, it looks awesome! What’s the bed angle?

Ole, the blade sits in the body at 15° and has a 25° bevel (with no secondary bevel yet). That means the cutting angle is 40°. I will probably give the blade a 5° secondary bevel to get a 45° cutting angle.
