I am a amateur saw dust production producer. I work in many wood working disciplines. I love old tools that work. I just go nuts over my MIDI Lathe

Welcome. You have found the right place for woodworking. A great group of people willing to help. Looking forward to see your projects and comments. Work safe in the shop and don’t forget to use pushsticks.

Thank you every one! This is something I need to have people with whom I can discuss the projects I get into.
Although today I only worked setting up pens to turn, some barrettes, a business card holder, two finger pressers, and several small toy cars for a grandson. It seems I cam get into problems faster than anybody I know.

For example. I know through experiences that you should not try to work small pieces through a table mounter router. 2 small heart shaped heart earrings of purple heart, and a slightly larger heart that will have a cast pot metal Heart glued to the wooden face and made into a barrette. Yes sir they both went flying across the shop, big chunk out of the larger heart.

So How do you run small wooden hearts about 1 1/2” through a 3/8 round over bit in a router and still have all your fingers. I’ve tried the clamp thing with no success. What do you guys think?

KINDA GOT LOST FOR A FEW DAYS THERE. 1ST THE COLD, THEN THE MAC LEARNING CURVE. NO E-MAIL OR INTERNET ADDRESSES WORKED FOR A WEEK. GREAT DAY! WENT TO YARD SALES PICKING UP WOOD AND TOOLS. GOT A NICE PIECE OF MAHONEGY [ ? ] AND BIRCH. NEVER DID LEARN TO SPELL. GOT SOME FILES AND…. AND… A WOMAN CARING FOR WHAT MUST BE A GRANDDAUGHTER TOOK MY NUMBER TO CALL WHEN HER 94 YEAR OLD GRANDFATHER SELLS HIS TOOLS. SHE SAYS ITS A COMPLETE SHOP SAWS TABLE AND BAND AND DRILL PRESSES PLANERS AND HAND TOOLS AND I GET 1ST CRACK. WISH I HAD ROOM FOR MORE TOOLS OR THE MONEY TO BUY THEM BUT YOU NEVER CAN TELL TILL YOU SEE WHAt IT IS.

TRYING TO CLEAN FILES, RASPS, AND WRENCHES IN BALDE AND BIT CLEANER. IF IT WORKS GREAT! IF NOT WE GO TO THE ELECTROLISS CLEANER THAT I MADE.

HAVING PEN MILL CUTTERS SHARPENED BY A PRO WHO SAYS THE CUTTER ANGLE AND RELIEF ARE MADE FOR STEEL NOT WOOD AND BRASS. HE IS GOING TO INCREASE THE ANGLE TO MORE THAN 15 DEGREES AND THAT SHOULD CURE IT PICKING UP ALL THE DIRT BEHIND THE CUTTING EDGE. PICK THEM UP ON 05/16 AND WILL TRY THEM OUT 1ST CHANCE I GET MEAN WHILE HAVE A CARBIDE CUTTER EN ROUTE BECAUSE I’M SO BEHIND.

THE PROJECT ON THE WOOD FILLERS FOR THE EDGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES [ ELEVATORS AND RUDDER ] FOR THE MOONEY MITE ARE PROGRESSING. I’VE USED A PIECE OF CHERRY IN A SMALL TAPERED CHANNEL TO PLATFORM THE HARD WOOD DOWEL. WILL TRY TO GET SOME PICTURES UP SOON. WANT TO FINNISH THAT UP THIS WEEK.
