Glue for pine with lots of pitch - 1 reply

I am working on a table for an historic site, using some old heart pine with a lot of pitch (smells great). I am concerned about glue choice due to the amount of rosin in some areas. This is old wood so I am not concerned about it liquifying. Titebond 1,2,3; hide, PU, epoxy ?? Top is 1- 1/8” and the table could see heavy loads...

Repair on leg of very expensive antique - 9 replies

removing wedged tenons - 1 reply

I’m trying to restore an old bench that has been on an open porch for about 40 years. The joints in the seat need to be reglued and will require jointing. The major problem is that the 4 main spindles of the back are wedge tenoned into the seat. The minor spindles will pop out easily if I can get the main ones out. I can’t pop ...
