More speakers

I just finished a new set of speakers and stands. I used Ribbon Mahogany veneer (PSA – Pressure Sensitive) as well as Mahogany hardwood vertical edges on the speakers. I filled the pores with Bartley’s light filler and then stained with Bartley’s Country Maple Gel Stain (love their gel stains). Top coated with General Finishes Arm r Seal – gloss. This was my first attempt at veneering and all I can say is I’ll be doing it again. It’s much easier to get a decent result than with painting (rattle cans), and with the peel and stick veneer there’s no messing with contact cement.

Corner Armoire

I just completed a corner armoire to go with the platform bed. There were a few problems along the way but overall I’m happy with the way it turned out. The small empty section above the drawers will hold a mirror and to the sides of the drawers my wife will hang necklaces. The top section will hold the TV and DVD player.

I borrowed some ideas from SimonSKL and DrRum (thanks guys). The legs are made of four 1” red oak laminated together and the rails are 1” red oak. 3/4” oak plywood was used for the panel. I used Bartley Gel Stain Warm Cherry and finished with wipe on poly.
