My name is Chad, I'm 36 years old and I live in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. I'm a crane operator by trade and have been with the same company for just over 11 years. I have a great woman who's allowed me to take over the garage and convert it into my workshop.
Some of my best memories of visiting my grandparents in Newfoundland was playing in the sawdust at my grandfather's sawmill. I was too young to appreciate the wood that was being cut. I was more interested in the sawdust. It was like a big sandbox. Oh, and if you don't know where Newfoundland is, Google it - It's beautiful. I also have an uncle who is a cabinet maker. However, even though woodworking is in my family, I am an amateur hobbyist. I've only really gotten into this about 3 years ago when I bought my first house. Before that, I never really had the room, living in apartments. I have a lot to learn, but I pick up things very quickly. There is so much information here on LumberJocks that I feel it can only make me a better woodworker.
Hopefully, this amateur will impress you with my mad skills that I've picked up in my journey to this point.

Yup, you read that correctly.I’ve been on a search for a while now trying to find a half decent table or cabinet saw. I’ve jumped back and forth from used on Kijiji to a new Ridgid 4512, back to used, then I was going to buy a new Griz...
This is a project I started back in September. I would pick at it from time to time in between other projects, and honey-do lists. My garage is 12’ x 20’, so I need to really think about where things go to make everything fit. I really...
I was visiting my parents over the Christmas holidays, when I noticed a plastic tray full of candy on the coffee table. My mom told me she got it from the dollar store. She also told me that she loves this bowl because of the divided trays. So, bei...
