Aspen

Blog entry by cpt_hammer posted 697 days ago 188 reads 0 times favorited 2 comments Add to Favorites Watch

I received from a good friend of mine several pieces of 4” x 1/2” x 4’ long Apsen boards. I have about 6 boards of the stuff and 1 piece of red oak about the same size. I was wondering if Aspen would be a good wood for kitchen cabinet drawers to hold pots and pans and such? I was thinking also about making a drawer organizer for the silverware. Any suggestions?

I think aspen might be good for that. It is a soft wood and has a tendancy to be fuzzy after a cut or an attempt at routing. I don’t like the way it takes stain. But it is strong enough for a drawer.

What did you plan on using on the bottom? Something like 1/2” ply for the pots and pans?

I believe the drawer organizer would be a good use to.

Should be great that way.
