Question about MDF . . . - 14 replies

Has anyone used this product to construct wall cabinets for the shop? https://www.homedepot.com/p/3-4-in-x-15-1-4-in-x-8-ft-Bullnose-Shelving-MDF-Board-446876/100023887 I was thinking about using it for wall cabinet carcasses and then using solid wood for the remainder of the construction. Any thoughts (good or bad)?

I am going to make this cabinet in a slightly modified size. I’ve already designed the carcass in Aspire so a majority of it will be cut out on my Maverick CNC. I plan to use the finished cabinet as a wall mounted workstation for my CNC computer and a place to house all my bits and associated hand tools. Has anyone had luck mak...

Hammer K3 Winner, PM2000 or Sawstop? - 55 replies

I am going to sell my Powermatic PM1000 because it is underpowered and not able to do what my old Unisaw could do. I have been looking at various options and started focusing on the PM2000 and Sawstop and their various options. My old Unisaw had a sliding table attachment and I really liked it. Sawstop has a couple options but PM offers no such ...

Wixey Portable Planer Readout Model WR510 - 1 reply

I installed the Wixey WR510 on my Dewalt DW735X planer this evening. It took no more than 15 minutes and went on without incident. I set my router depth stop to .75” and ran a piece of pine through it. After the initial pass, I checked the wood’s thickness with a micrometer and it was exactly .75”. I then checked it on the Wixe...

10 Years and Quite the Change - 4 replies

I’ve been away from woodworking for about 10 years. I am just now acquiring tools and machinery for my garage shop. I can’t believe how much things have changed in my absence. Delta and Powermatic are no longer MADE IN THE USA; I find that hugely disappointing. RBI Industries vanished and was resurrected not too long ago. Jointech is...

I am looking to purchase the Una-Gauge setup tool and would like to hear from anyone who purchased it ( http://www.betterleytools.com/unagauge/unagauge.html ). Do you find it to be worth the costly investment? I am tired of trying to wing it with feeler gauges and try squares. I would also like something that works throughout my entire shop (e.g...

Powermatic PM1000 Table Saw - 7 replies

I am contemplating the purchase of this saw. If you own one or have experience with one, could you please share your opinion with me about the machine? I am hesitant to spend the $2K because of the 1.75hp motor but, then again, I do not have 220 power in my garage and my garage is fully finished (e.g., tape/texture). Any thoughts would be greatl...
