52 yrs old, last serious wood work was high school woodshop, retired/disabled after 30 yrs as boilermaker/conductor. I'm kind of in the process of changing from metalworking to woodworking and have to redo my basement shop to make it more efficient for that.

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.
God Bless

Hello! You guys definitely make a person feel welcome. Since I joined I have been reading some library books on woodworking and surfing this site looking at projects ( works of art ). There are 3 things that I must do- 1, get my basement shop in order and organized, 2, recover and build on some old woodworking skills ( its been 35 yrs since high school workshop ), and 3, find a project that is on my level and just go for it. Also need to acquire more tools along the way of course. Just found some 1/2” router bits and a biscuit joiner on ebay. The bits are advertised as k-10 carbide which hopefully will be fine to begin with, and the biscuit joiner was cheap and generic which I will probably regret and replace in the future. Take care, Bill.

Hi Callum. Thanks for that and good to meet you. I like your sign off comment. If you don’t mind, I’ll incorporate that into my own personal woodworking philosophy. My family and I want to visit England someday, maybe the next Olympics! See ya, Bill.
