Project Information

The strange shapes were made by taking a laminated solid block of wood, 3&1/2" X 3&1/2" X 4", drilling two 5/16" holes on opposite sides, (These are turn around points for the bandsaw blade) and making 4 bandsaw cuts to form the finished puzzle in the last picture. I used a 1/4" blade, but it would be a little easier making the turns using either a 3/16" or 1/8" blade. There are only 7 pieces to this puzzle, but when they are all dumped out of the carcass, there is guaranteed mayhem and frustration in trying to put it all back together.

Don, You are an evil man.
Great puzzle.
Would it be more difficult if the block was all the same colour?
? LOL.

Outstanding! Very abstract, gets me sort of dizzy just trying to follow the lines.

I agree that you are "an evil man", but a genius at that! Doctor Dimento has nothing over you! Looks like a fun project to make and to try to solve.

I think I want one, but that may be my problem here . . . thinking.

This looks like an art offering to me. When I see your sculpture, I want to grab my fiddle and start playing. However, I want to replace the scroll with the one on top of the box in the first picture.

I love it! Wonderful job!

Thanks for all of the nice comments Lj's, I thought that I posted this several hours ago, Dummy me again, guess that I forgot to hit the "Post This Comment" button Anyone else ever do this??? I can't take credit for the puzzle, it came from a past Wood Magazine (February 1987 issue no. 15) If anyone wants a pattern of this, just PM me and send me your email address, , this is the only way I know how to send it to you.
