Project Information

Steam locomotive Reading
When I started this project using Gatto plans, the second day I was asking myself what in the world have I got myself into???
As I've said in my blog this project starts with a ton a little bitty parts and ends the same way.
I'm very happy with the way it turned out and this is one of the few models I have made where I didn't go off on my own adding extra parts.
The first three pictures are with sun light, just wanted it to show up with the best light.

I had thought about putting brass hand rails but now that the wood place holders are on there, I like the idea of an all wood train, but the rails aren't glued in so would be easy to upgrade later.

Still undecided about the tender it would add another 14" to an already large project.

This is such a beauty. It looks smaller than the T and J one.
Maybe a lot of small stuff but the details makes it a great build.
Well done.

I also enjoyed reading the blog contribution.

Wow beautiful job. The T1 was a monster of an engine. Looking forward to seeing it paired with it's tender.

Dutchy here's some side by sides and I was surprised my scratch built diesel is just about the same size.
I'm not usually into building bigger models but this would be a great project to double the size for sure.

In real life wouldn't the two trains use the same width track?

And this is the full size train for the T&J plans.

UncleBuck you haven't seen my work bench here lately!!!

The second day when I started the under neath I almost put a stop to it, seeing the itty bitty parts needed for that the sad thing is most of that first part is hide behind the wheels. :-[

I need to thank bj383ss for his great build of this train that had it simmering in the back of my mind for a long time.
I love building trains!!!

Being a former model railroader I really appreciate the level of detail on this model!
Your work needs to be in a museum!

Do you think that we need a forum just for model builders?

Steam locomotives provide view of history that helped build this country.

Oldnovice One of the things I love about building these models is the research for the builds you come up with all kinds of info you wouldn't find else where.

not sure if you have a rail close but we have the main Union Pacific double track line thru my town my day job the plant is 200 feet from the track once in awhile they bring out those old beauties and take them for a spin very cool. there are 80 to 100 trains thru here a day.
