Project Information
This is my first attempt at inlay, the stars were obviously easy, just drilled and plugged. The moon I did with an exacto and chisels. It wasn't as painstaking as I thought it would be, but then again it's not exactly intricate. The city silhouette was an idea I had that I thought was also going to be difficult but wound up being relatively simple. I just marked a line across a piece of purple heart as a depth gauge and just cut on my crosscut sled making sure I didn't go past the line, and used a dremel to put points on a few buildings. My dad pointed out that the curls in the maple look like city pollution and we had a good laugh. As always there are a few things I would like to do differently, like do a constellation on the lid, or an actual skyline of an actual city. and once I get my scroll saw running properly maybe throw a bridge in there or something for added pizzazz. Thanks for looking!
