Project Information

My grandpa passed away just before christmas and this spring my Grandma asked me to make an urn for him. I have made a lot of hollow forms to date, but this one was the hardest mentally and physically. The vessel is maple and the cap is rosewood, about 16 inchs tall by 5 inchs wide.

My condolences on your grandpa's passing. You did him proud and he has a fine resting place that is made with love and care.

Maybe you have turned a large piece but I don't recall, all I can remember are the mini forms. I'll have to go back and check your projects list. I love your work and especially the finial.

The finial looks great, the shape is perfect, I can't imagine the emotions involved in this project. I am sorry for your loss. You have provided a beautiful urn for your grandparents.

You did a beautiful job on this, Roper. Think of it as 'wrapping your arms around him.' He's all warm in your embrace.
