I will be using this jig down the road when I build one. Thanks so much for sharing. I have seen many jigs that others have built and I keep copies of them in a folder for some day to build as well . Why pay a high price at the store for a jig when we can get ideas from each other. On my to do list jig will be a dowel making jig. I can make a dowel with any kind of wood and up the size of 2" in debts. It takes a router and a router table and a hand held drill and a block of wood cut out at the bottom for the router blade to come up through . A in feed and a out feed to the block of wood that is clamped to the router table. A board the size of the dowel will be feed through the hole with it setting in the hand drill chuck. As you feed the board with the drill going through the block jig a dowel comes out the other side of the feed hole. Any ways I will be using lots of dowels soon and will save $$$ with this dowel making jig. Take care my friend Jeff M.

NOW that's simplicity in action. I'm putting this one in my memory banks for future use. Thanks for the idea.

Very nice idea indeed. My workbench is an 8' section of old bowling lane so it is perfect for this project. I will be making my own soon.

@FiremanJim: You're right … a section of bowling lane would be perfect for this jig. I think the jig would also work well just on a piece of MDF or something as long as the MDF was supported so that it didn't sag.

@Joe: Same idea, for sure, and your jig is much prettier than mine! I wonder, though, if you have trouble with flex in the long metal rods?

They seem to be very strong… have not noticed any flex at all…

Most of the time, there is not that much space between them…

Yep… the Router is a very valuable addition to any Shop…

You can do a lot with one… or many… :)

I really enjoy using my routers… I like the table the best…
... but using the small Colt trim router is fun too… and sometimes you just can't get everything up on a 'Table" to route! LOL
