Christmas with my nephews.

Had an excellent Christmas this year, wanted to share some neat stories with LJ'ers.

My nephews come over for Christmas from MS. They are 3 of my favorite boys ever - and 3 of the most rambunctious, too… Our living room looked like Santa open a Southern Branch to his toy shop, t was ridiculous.

However, after all the toys were opened, games were checked out, batteries were installed, etc. I decided to duck out to the garage and do a little more work on a jewelry box I'm making. One by one my nephews stumbled out to see what 'Uncle Tim' was doing and each of them wanted to make his own 'project' - mostly a heap of scrap wood nailed and glued up of which they were all very proud. I helped my oldest nephew (Kevin) to make a nameplate for his room and my middle nephew (Matthew) wanted to make a small ladder to play with his wrestling action figures! My youngest nephew (Zach) is 6 and he has a dream to own a tire store one day - so he set to work on building a small tire store.

Naturally we covered safety first, I gave him a pair of safety glasses and explained the importance of paying close attention in the shop and to be very careful. Zach also got a bike for Christmas and since we were discussing safety he felt it would be best to wire his bike helmet in the shop as well. :) Priceless…

We spent most of the day working on their 'projects', I ended up buying Zach a small tool set to take home with him so he could complete his tire store. He nearly cried when Mom said he didn't have room to take all his lumber home - she made room for it.

I couldn't have asked for a better Christmas, these boys got every toy known but still spent 90% of Christmas day in the shop with me. Like I said before… Priceless.

That's right play with the box. Give them a refrigerator box and a sharp knife and see what they do. Well maybe hold back on the sharp knife.

But a day in the shop of "Uncle Tim" will be remembered forever. And I hope that it takes less time for them to show up in the shop when they next appear.

Priceless You bet.
