Project Information

Hi Everyone, your probably getting a little tired of seeing all my projects and I wasn't going to post this one, but my 14 yr old son told me I should and as everyone with a small shop, like me, knows we are always looking for new storage ideas. So, here is one of mine. I got tired of all my sanding supplies being in several different places around the shop so it was time to consolidate. Lots of cuts for all the pull outs, but I'm an organization freak so it works for me. The bottom section with the rolls has a MDF plate for the sanding blocks and where I cut off the PSA sand paper for the blocks. That MDF is just screwed in so I can replace it later. The sections are used for nylon scub pads, sanding disks, drums and supplies, and all the other misc. stuff. The whole cabinet is about 30"H x 24"W x 14" D, cabinet grade plywood and popular face frame, rails and styles. Not made to be too pretty, but functional. Maybe it will give you some ideas too.

Very nicely done! I would sure build one if I had the room to hang it up….LOL I am sure it will serve your purposes well! Sure helps to have all your sanding stuff in one location, too!

God Bless,

WOW, that's pretty fancy for sanding supplies. Heck my dishes don't live so well. I'll bet it makes life easier to have such organization when you're in the middle of a project.

Great Job. A very useful sanding cabinet. Do you use PSA sanding paper on your sanding blocks.

This is great! The funny thing is I was just in the shop a few minutes ago griping to myself about the lack of organization of my sanding supplies.

LOL, I understand completely Charlie :>)

Karson: Yes, Carbordum primier red, saw it and tested it at the Richmond Woodworks Show. Bill Bush used it in his demonstations. Cutts really well with less effort…I'm likin' that. The sanding blocks are 3M I found on the internet. Have one for 80, 120, 180, 220, and 400 which makes it handy to just grap the one or ones you need. I try to keep them loaded with good paper when in the cabinet so when I'm working I don't have to fuss at myself for not having them ready…but doesn't always work…lol. Good system and works for me.

That's quite the storage cabinet for sandpaper. Is there not a rule against being too organized? Nice job.

I never get tired of looking at the projects posted on this site. I like the design, if I didin't like working ing the shop so much I'd say build me one. As it is I'll just steal the design

Don't ever apologize for posting a project! We want to see every one! You did a fantastic job of organizing your sanding supplies, we could all use something like that. And it looks beautiful too! Great job. Nice work with the dado'd/plywood dividers.

Jim, great design, very functional and that equates to saving time in the shop. I disdain hunting down supplies, it's a time killer. I turned a recycled kitchen cabinet into my sanding supply center and after building my miter saw table I decided to try something along the same theme for my spindle sander, random orbital, 1/4 sheet, and belt sander on a rolling cart with a fold down downdraft table. I'll park it under the supplies and head on to the next project. Thanks for posting it.

this is almost exactly what I want. I'd maybe have a little less stoarge for the paper and more for the tools and other related sanding items. I hoep I can get back to this soon. Nice work and thanks for the inspiration.
