Project Information

This was a piece I made this summer that turned out a lot better than I thought it would while I was making it. It had 216 different wood pieces and at time was the most difficult project that I had attempted at that time. The reason I had so much problems with it was my old scroll saw was a cheap one and while I was cutting the pieces the table would vibrate and shift and not be at a 90 degree angle (I've learned you get what you pay for). Therefore I had a lot of sanding to get each to match and not have gaps. Only doing this for about six months at the time, it was a real learning tool to help me in later projects. This piece was made from walnut, yellow heart, curly maple, wenge, cherry, teak, red heart. I had to use some wood bleach to tone down the red heart to make it more orange than red. I took the first pictures in my back yard because I really liked seeing it in a nature setting. My daughter is modeling it in the last picture to show the scale.

Great work.

I think I must be having deja-vu all over again. I could have sworn I saw you this posting quite sometime ago.

Yes I did post it under the profile "korys" and I tried to let everyone know what happend on this one "Koryk" in my profile information on the new one. For some reason I lost my old page and could not access it anymore, I contacted LJ's and the only thing we could come up with is to restart my profile. I did want to post some of my better projects to the new page because it was very hard to loose all the history. It means a lot to me that you remembered the project from before. Thanks

I still impressed with it just as much as the first time I saw it. Good stuff is usually worth repeating anyway.

Gorgeous! Very creative, photographing it in a natural setting. I especially like how sculpted the tiger is, not flat. Good anatomy!
