A day antique shopping and a great find
My wife And I spent the day going to county square's and browsing antique shops. Of course I found a whole lot of old tools that were to far gone. I did come across a boxwood four-fold rule for eight dollars, but one of the hinges was busted. I saw a marking device I had never seen before. It was pistol gripped with a rose wood handle. The slide was embossed with ruler like measurements. The blade looked like an old style straight razor with the handle missing. I dont know if it was for marking or trimming something. The best part of the day was when I found my try plane.
It is 26" long and has Dwights and French & co. stamped on the blade. It is missing a piece in front of the mouth. But it is an old repair that was done with hide glue. It should be an easy fix. The plane is flat and true. I paid $27.00 for it and think I have done fairly well.
