Added a new hand plane

In an effort to augment my finishing tools beyond just using power tools, I have started to use my hand planes a little.

Most are inexpensive planes, so I decided to treat myself to a good quality overall usage plane and see how that will work for me.

This arrived the other day.

A great choice Cato. Did you get extra blades for different angles?

Stefang, I did get an extra blade so that I could have one at standard bevel and put a slightly different profile on the other one.

Hi Cato

I have the Veritas varient of this design with the extra irons. It makes a great shooting plane with the low angle iron and is very helpfull with the high angle one for smoothing highly figured wood. I find that with general smoothing the low angle iron can present problems not found with the standard 45 degree angle - depending on the wood. I recommend you expand your iron collection over time to take best advantage of the design.

Good luck and keep at expanding your hand tool skills.
