I have the Veritas varient of this design with the extra irons. It makes a great shooting plane with the low angle iron and is very helpfull with the high angle one for smoothing highly figured wood. I find that with general smoothing the low angle iron can present problems not found with the standard 45 degree angle - depending on the wood. I recommend you expand your iron collection over time to take best advantage of the design.
