Project Information

These are the screwdrivers I made for my Dads festiva present. The tips and brass ferrules are from Lee Valley and the screwdrivers tips look really good. The darkest, standard tips are made of Leburnum, Robertsons are Black Locus and the Phillips are Arbutus. The stand is made of Walnut and was good practice at hand cut dovetails. These were made to be users and hopefully he does use them. I have seen a number of these on Lumberjocks and now I am making a set for myself. Thanks for looking and I would be happy to answer any questions and welcome any critiques.

I like the fact that each one is a different size. Easier to identify quickly. Beautiful choice of wood and nice finish. They look a little block-ey, but that could just be the pic playing games with me. Nice job.

Good job Alan! I always like using tools that I had a part in making.

That looks like a set of screwdriver a father would like. The stand is also a very nice touch. Nice selection of wood.

I recognized those shanks. I have a set on order even as we speak, though since I have no lathe, I'll be making octagonal handles and doing some shaping with rasp, file, and sanders… Nice job with "color coding" the handles. I'll have to remember to do something similar.

Those are so nice, one wouldn't want to use them for fear of damaging them! Nice Work!

They look great, and I especially like the holder/stand. I can't wait to order some of these to give them a try. I did some toy ones a while back with a "cup" routed into the blank before they were turned. I bet this would be a good excuse to try it again with a non-toy. :)
Good work, and thanks for sharing! :)

Thanks for the commments all. If I was to change anything I think I would make the small ones a little thinner.
