Project Information
This was number 10 in the Cigar Box Guitar series. It is a three string slide style blues guitar, but has pretty good action for fretting also. It was made for a dear friend of mine who has shared many guitar playing evenings with me and has taught me a lot a bout playing guitar. He truly is a mentor both in the fire service and the music world, both to myself and to many others through the years. Just my way of saying 'THANKS' to JD. The neck is cherry with a walnut fretboard. The hardware is gold plated and the frets are solid gold alloy. Nut is black corian. The saddle is bubinga with a brass key for the bridge. A rough 'Rocky Patel' box was used so the lid was turned inside out to be smoother. It has a piezo element pickup under the bridge. Sound-hole trim rings are gold plated sink drains. It is a good sounding git. Really good sustain. Real bluesy sounding when amplified. Truly a most enjoyable build and a definitely successful instrument. Hope he enjoys playing it as much as I enjoyed building it! Thanks for viewing/commenting!
