Project Information
I designed and crafted this alder and aluminum Pot and Pan Rack for my DIL. She has a small kitchen and was very unhappy with her lack of storage space. I told her that she needed to get her pots and pans out of the cabinets and the result of that conversation is this piece. It hangs over a small counter top extension. Room was limited by the proximity of the back door, but it works pretty well.
This is a mixed media piece made with 1/2" square aluminum tubing vertically supporting the stretched octagonal rack. Rhe tubes are captured in mating dadoes and pinned with brass rod for strength. The upper elements are screwed to ceiling joists and plugged with removable maple plugs.
The horizontal octagon is biscuit jointed at the miters and screwed and plugged to the horizontal parts of the supporting structure.
I hand bent brass welding rod hooks for hangers.
