This is a good looking table. It has a nice design and proportions. The through tenons add visual interest to the piece. Of course, it now needs some matching end tables.
DB, I do like that table. I think you managed to match up the grain throughout the project to present a very visually appealing appearance. Proportions, graining, the stain. Wow. I like! Real through tenon or faux? Either way it adds just the right touch, IMO.
The table top is 36×20 and it's 18 inches tall. I modified a design I saw in a Stickley book. I try to use the golden ratio rule for most of my re-designs. The couple I made it for wanted a smaller coffee table for their small room. The tenons are real through tenons. I used up two extra legs making them. Finish is 4 coats of Sam Maloof poly/oil and I put 2 coats of Arm-R-Seal oil and urethane on the table top. The legs, as Stickley made them, are quarter sawn oak on all four sides. That was fun. (Stain was Red Oak Minwax 215)
Thanks much for the nice feedback. My next project is a television cabinet for the couple that got this table. Same basic design, arts and crafts but now I have to tackle 4 drawers, a first using dovetails for me…..hmmm guess I'd better make a few (lots) extra pieces…
