Day 5
Today I will be shaping the tips. There is not much to tell here other than I use a Nicholson #50 rasp for the entire process. Here is the ebony glued in place:
Here are some pictures after shaping. Notice my home made air cleaner. It's just a fine particle furnace filter duct taped to a box fan. It works great to help keep the sanding dust to a minimum.
I did not mention the string making process (its not really wood working) but here are my string making materials. It is just like making rope only smaller. ; )
Here is a picture of my "high tech" bow scale: ("Why no honey, I don't know where the bathroom scale is. Have you asked the kids?")
All that is left is to sand it down and put a finish on and wrap a leather handle. I'll start that tomorrow.
