Project Information

In my on-going quest to organize my home shop, her's my lastest project. I have several of the Stanley organizers, and was constantly pulling all of them from the shelf they were stacked on to get to the one I needed. Since that got really old, I came up with this. There are individual strips dadoed into the sides for each one to rest on. They basically become pull out drawers.

Before you ask--There is no Bubunga or Flame Maple. This is built totally from cheap scraps.
Even the 3/4" back is 2 strips of fir plywood biscuit- joined together to make a piece wide enough.
The sides and top are fir plywood with poplar for all the trim. Even the wheels and pipe handle were junk pieces I had laying around. Black Lacquer finish.

Thanks for looking

Kent,
I have the same problem, but I don't need it to be mobile. I'm in the process of making something like that in two or three pieces to sit in my storage shelves against the wall.
Nice job!
Looks factory made!

Hi Kent,

Once again, you've come through on a good project….. Stellar job on the construction and build, too..
I like the moblie thought behind it….easy to move around, and the color is very classy…...
One thing you need, I think, is some labels on the front of each box, so you'll know what's in each one
without having to guess, or pull each one out to see the contents…..That's what I do with all my fishing
gear, like crankbaits, plastic baits, etc…. I just print the lables on my computer, and stick 'em on. I use the
white mailing labels (1"x 2 /58") like they sell at Wal-Mart, Staples, etc…...Works good…...

Hi Kent. I do also have some stanley organizers.

Mine are actually disorganized
SInce all are perfectly equal, I mark the handles of each of them to let me know the contents.
I do have a paper indicating which mark means what contents. Usually that paper is hanging about somewhere in the shop. So I always have hard time to know which organizer open to find something.

I think I will need to fix a sticker in the handles, instead of marking them.

Do you have the same problem with the paper hanging about? lol

Nothing I love better than overly fancy shop furniture. I've been known to make a piece or two myself.

Nice job, Kent!

COOL JOB! Terrific!

I'm glad I'm not the only one to glue pieces of plywood together… for something more useful!

Finish is really COOL… Spray can stuff? What?
... looks like metal or plastic! NICE!

Thanks guys

Rick, I was planning to do the labels. Just never got around to it.

JJohnston, I've actually done pianos in the past. I guess the mentality stays with you-Thanks

Joe, I used a Binks Model 2001 gun on a 2 qt pressure pot. I used to paint professionaly so I still have pretty good equipment.

I made something similar to that recently on a much smaller scale that sits on one of my work benches. For mine, I used the Plano boxes with adjustable bins like would be used in a fishing tackle box. It helped to save lots of space. Yours is much nicer than mine. Very well done.

Hey Kent,
What happened? Did Flambough or Plano sell out to Stanley? lol. You sure got a mess of those things.
Just like the inside compartment of my boat where I store all my tackle…....lol….. Nice rack….again…
I forgot to ask this question in my first post….....Oh well, it's never too late for an answer, I guess…..
