Project Information

OK, as you can see i need to do a little work to get the top to fit better and to do the inlay in the top. I cut it out with my home built cnc and found out it needs a little tweeking. The box in made out of pecan, I didn't have a piece big enough for the top so I had to glue two pieces together. The inlay in the top is Huckberry, at least that is what I was told. I'm leaning more each project.

Thanks for looking.

Nice first attempt! I'm nervous to try Andy's art boxes, but it's on the burner. Seeing the high degree of skill and artistry displayed by LJ's masters is humbling but inspiring.

I was trying to make jigs up as I went but I should have done what he says to do. I should have made the first one out of some old scrap and thrown it away. I am new to wood working and this was realy out of my league but I wanted to try. My wife loves the box and that is all that counts.

And yes I am very humbled with what I see here but I'm trying to get better and that is what counts.

Thanks for the kind words.

Your box came out really nice. The first one is always a learning experience. I like the way you used the natural edge on the knob and hinged it in the long direction of the box.

This is a great first attempt, mine went in the wood stove. I have a few others that are holding screws and bolts and drill bits, haha. I keep them around to remind me to slow down, think, plan ahead.
I too like the natural edge to the handle.
Well done!
