Project Information

This is my latest box that I named "Angel Wings" because of the handle. The walls are afixed to the base which has been rabbeted. Note that I made the walls wavey (not a constant thickness). The rabbet that I used for the base and top (see 4th picture) came about by accident. I was rabbeting another project, I was lazy and just used my standard blade and was making several passes. I really liked the effect, it reminded me of the way the Japanese rake their sand gardens.

Thanks for looking,

Wonderful box! The contrasting woods are quite appealing. The design of the handle incorporated in the top as quite unique. The wavy sides and striated surfaces add to the overall effect.

I really like this box! The wavy sides are very pleasing, and I like the grooves that are left with making the rabbets. I would have done the rabbets with the board verticle against the fence on the table saw, but the way you did it leaves the rippled effect. Never would have thought to use that as a feature. Good job!

I really like the unique idea of the "planned" grooves in the base and the wavy sides.

Nice. The handle is true inspiration. I am thinking of variations as we speak.
