Good looking board. I'm not familiar with that kind of wood.

ken90712 you might know this as Osage Orange. It is native to this area (TX, OK, AK). I call it Osage Orange when I want to impress someone. I didn't know that it was call Osage Orange till a couple of years ago.

The grain does stand out on this wood and it is sturdy.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

We get a lot of OO here in Queensland… never seen it used for a cutting board before … crazy grain patterns..
Definitely different..
I do like it…

I like this board, it just seems that making it entirely of osage orange would be hard on your knives if it was for everyday use with a Janka hardness of 2040.

I like the randomness of the grain and color variation here though.

What did you finish it with?

I really like the look of this cutting board. I wish this wood grew here.

I love the tight contrast between the different grain layers. Really nice effect.

I grew up calling that a 'horse-apple' tree. Another spelling is 'Bois D'arc' and pronounced bo-dark.
Wikipedia has a pretty interesting history on it.

By the way, very nice board

Nice job there. I really like the arcs in the grain you've chosen to display.
