Project Information

This chair was built for a good friend of mine. He in turn built my website. It's out of 100+ year old sycamore beams from barn on my Grandfather's farm in KS. I absolutely love the color contrast in the wood. I've tried to come up with an all wood tray latch system but so far the closest I have got still requires a metal coil spring. If anyone has any suggestions on how I could make an entirely wood latch please let me know.

thanks

Another beautiful chair. Very lucky child to sit in a Maloof-inspired chair!

Without seeing your website, I'd still imagine he got the better end of the deal.

oh my goodness, this is beautiful. And the little one won't even know how special his chair is-well, not for another 20 years, anyway.

LOVE the colour. Sweet

Rareddy, the pictures were taken in front of a Syke wall at the photo studio. It's a constructed two sided wall that has no hard corners. The wall scoops or slope into the floor as well as curves into the other wall. It's a pretty cool set up, the only hard part in building one would be the corner where the walls and floor meet.
