Project Information

I have had this 35-year-old Wholly Gig Red bird ("Bart Bird") that my father built hanging around in my shop waiting for attention. This spring I finally got to it. With my wife's help, we cleaned it up and put it back into service along with a few new one's I decided to build. The result was good and I have received many positive commits. One became a gift for my favorite 9 year old in New York.

They have been a lot of fun and far more work than I expected. I used 1/2 inch plywood for a couple and shelving for others. Parts made of Fir shelving break easily and require careful handling. A good primer and top coat a critical to their durability.

I got plans off the internet but did not follow them exactly, making adjustments where needed.

Thanks for looking.
