Project Information

Curly maple veneer and solids.

The concept was to create a cabinet that appeared to have been crushed. The math didn't work out but this is the result of the design process.

Basically the top is 3" wider than the bottom and the left side is 3" lower than the right side. That leaves one square corner to work with :)

Hay Karson,

The knobs follow a line from the top of the front legs, I also mistakenly posted the before picture… I installed brass knobs and upon further reflection took them off and turned some from East Indian Rosewood. A much better solution.

Thanks David,

I've had an article published in #135 and a piece in the Reader's Gallery in #185 along with mention in an article about Saskatchewan woodworkers Sandor did in #75.

It's great for bragging rights but hasn't done a thing for generating new work.

NOT that I'm complaining but my efforts lately are focused on generating sales so I can continue to eat and make new work :)

Cheers, Don

Now that one makes ya look twice! Legs at varying heights, angles everywhere, contrasting colors. Whether the math works or not the cabinet is great!

Don, you do some amazing work. It's not to my taste, (so my wife tells me) but just really eye catching things. Thanks for posting!

Don.

Great piece! I really like well-done asymmetrical pieces.

Did you consider trying to have the shelves inside the left and right doors at different levels? That would probably require a vertical divider inside, and a lot more work. But I'd think that would really pull viewers close to see what's going on inside.
