Project Information
This is the first official 'woodworking' project that I have completed. I have been working with wood for a several years but mostly building decks and finishing the basement. This project came out of a need for a TV to watch while we tailgate in Athens at UGA games.
It's essentially a 3/4" plywood box (oak veneer) bolted to a Truck cargo carrier. I used finishing nails and Titebond 2 glue to construct and it's held up well with the 1,000 miles it's traveled so far. When we get to the games we pop the lock, lift the cover which rest on the top lid, and fire up the satellite (which is conviently stored in the storage bins beside TV). I also build a cradle for it so that I can hoist it up and load it into my hitch reciever by myself. It works great. The box catches a lot of attention and is very solid.
I used MinWax 'Early American" stain and used Spar PolyUrethane for exterior use. Since finishing this project (June '09), I have completed another project with solid red oak (will post next). I have got the bug and just bought a planer and jointer this week. Can't wait to use!
