Nice job Dave. Kind of addictive isn't it? I gave pen turning a shot this weeked. I gave my wife, two best friends and my mother in law one. At least they were impressed and I didn't have to break the bank to do it.

You had your Dad and another woodworking adult with you at the show and you couldn't throw a tantrum or something to get them to buy a mini-lathe?
You couldn't convince them that you could teach them to do something as useful as make a pen (or a hundred)?
Guess you'll just have to get a paper route or be a bag boy at the local supermarket to earn a couple hundred bucks to buy your own. Don't let them near it. ;>)

Nice pen.

Maybe your mom will recognize your talent and front you the money. (1)You could pay her back selling the pens. (2)She'll always know where you are. [big selling point] (3) If she doesn't you will run away and join the circus.

I'll sell you my old Carba-Tec for $25 plus shipping but you will need a motor.

I just don't have any other ideas, good or bad.

I am looking around to which lathe i want to buy cause i want to start off making pens but advance to some bigger things so i dont want just a small lathe. I have not had time to post it yet. Dave

Just a thought

Go to YouTube and search for "Pens for College", it stars a 13 year old boy named Alex who plans to finance his education selling pens.

Might give you some ideas that would help you get the equipment you need.

He also has a website "Pensforcollege.com"
